Offline listening is not the same as an exportable file.

For a commute, keeping audio available inside a reader may be enough. For a file you can save to Files or open in another player, you need an explicit export workflow. A download button alone does not tell you which of those outcomes you get.

Hearem documents saving and sharing generated audio with Standard. The output format depends on the source audio, and changing playback speed does not rewrite the exported file. Speechify's Reader pages mention audio downloads, but the reviewed pages do not establish a consistent app-and-plan-specific file-export flow. Test that exact operation before purchasing either app for this purpose.

Multiple languages do not prove seamless mixed-language reading.

A list of supported languages is not a result for your bilingual notes. Try a paragraph with names, abbreviations and language switches using the voice you would actually keep. Hearem offers a choice of providers, but pronunciation and code-switching still depend on the model and voice.

Speechify also offers multilingual voices. Neither a language count nor this comparison establishes that one product sounds better for your text. We do not award a mixed-language winner without comparable samples.

Compare the plan you need, not just the headline price.

Check the billing interval, voice allowance and export requirements together. Hearem's character balances and Speechify's word-based allowance are not equivalent units. A direct one-million-versus-one-million comparison would be misleading.

Try the same three tasks in both apps.

Use your own reading material. This is a suggested test protocol, not a claim that we ran it on every device or voice.

Import the same long document. Inspect the extracted order, start listening, lock the phone and check how easily you resume.
Read the same mixed-language paragraph. Compare names, abbreviations and language changes, not just how pleasant the first sentence sounds.
Attempt your required output. Save an audio file to Files and open it in another player; note the actual extension, plan required and whether speed changes persist.

Questions before you switch

Is Hearem a Speechify alternative for iPhone?

Yes, for importing text and documents and listening on iPhone. It is not a like-for-like replacement for Speechify's web, desktop and extension workflow. Start with the devices and output you actually need.[1][4]

Does Speechify support voice cloning?

Its official reader FAQ describes using a cloned voice for emails, PDFs and websites. It would be inaccurate to list this as a Hearem-only capability. Confirm the relevant app and subscription before relying on it.[3]

Can either app guarantee MP3 export for every voice?

We do not make that claim. Hearem's export format follows the source audio and requires Standard. Speechify's download wording is not enough to establish a universal Reader MP3-export workflow; Studio is a separate product.[1][9][8]

Which app has the more natural voice?

This page does not rank voice quality. Listen to the same material using the specific voices you are considering. In Hearem, Apple system voices are the basic offline fallback; evaluate supported cloud AI voices separately.[1]
