1. Developer Information
Operator: Ziyang Zhan, an independent developer. We handle user information responsibly and work to protect your reading content, voice data, and preferences.
Effective August 30, 2026. This policy explains how Hearem handles information when you use the mobile app and website. We use a local-first design and minimize unnecessary data collection.
Operator: Ziyang Zhan, an independent developer. We handle user information responsibly and work to protect your reading content, voice data, and preferences.
Basic information: subscription state, preferences, device details, diagnostics, and crash information may be used to provide support and improve reliability.
Content information: when you import text, web pages, images, or documents, Hearem processes that content to extract text or generate speech.
Voice information: only when you intentionally use voice cloning, we process voice samples you upload or record, the resulting voice model, preview audio, and related information.
Clone records: to provide, manage, and delete a cloned voice, we may keep the provider name, voice ID, file ID, model, creation and deletion status, timestamps, and necessary diagnostic records.
OCR uses Apple Vision on device by default, so images usually do not need to be uploaded to Hearem servers.
When you use Apple system voices, reading is handled locally where the platform supports it.
When you select premium AI voices, voice cloning, or cloud features, the necessary text or voice samples are sent to the selected provider to produce the requested output.
Voice-cloning providers may include MiniMax and, during limited testing or phased availability, Fish Audio. To create a clone, a provider may receive the original voice sample, configuration, preview text, and necessary identifiers.
The provider and processing location may vary with the feature, region, and service configuration. Providers handle this data under their applicable terms and privacy policies and any account terms we have with them.
Information is used to generate speech, create or use cloned voices, restore subscriptions, provide support, diagnose errors, improve performance, and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your reading content or voice data.
Hearem does not use your voice samples or cloned voices to train a Hearem general-purpose model.
A third-party AI provider may use input, output, or de-identified data for safety analysis, service improvement, or model training under its applicable policy or account terms. Unless a governing contract or written provider confirmation says otherwise, we do not promise that a provider performs none of this processing.
Voice samples and generated voice information are handled with encrypted transfer and access controls where available.
Voice samples, voice features, and clone information linked to a person may be sensitive personal data. Before using voice cloning, you must review why this processing is needed, which third party receives the data, and the possible effect on the person's rights.
You may upload only your own voice or a voice for which you have valid permission that specifically covers AI voice cloning, synthesis, and the intended use. General permission for derivative, non-commercial, in-game, or recorded use does not automatically include AI voice cloning.
Playlists, history, progress, and preferences are stored locally first.
If you enable iCloud sync, related data may be stored in your iCloud container for cross-device recovery.
Diagnostic, security, and anonymized usage data may be retained for a reasonable period needed for those purposes. A third-party provider may retain data, backups, or necessary logs under its policy.
Removing a cloned voice does not necessarily delete every related object at once. The Hearem voice record, third-party voice model, uploaded source file, voice features, cache, generated audio, and backups may require separate handling.
Removing a voice in the app stops its normal use in Hearem. To request deletion of a third-party voice model, uploaded source file, or other associated data, contact support. We will identify data under our control and submit applicable deletion requests to the relevant provider.
A deletion request does not automatically remove copies you exported to your device, the Files app, a private iCloud container, or another app. Data temporarily retained for security, audit, backup, or legal obligations will be isolated from further use where applicable until it can be deleted, rotated out, or anonymized.
You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of data associated with you.
You can withdraw some processing permissions by disabling features such as clipboard detection or iCloud sync, or by removing cloned voices in the app.
After withdrawal, we will stop the relevant future processing, but withdrawal does not invalidate processing lawfully completed before it. For data held by a third-party provider, we will help submit an applicable request and report the outcome we can verify.
Minors should not independently use voice cloning or upload their own voice, another minor's voice, or any third party's voice. Where the law permits such processing, valid guardian consent and any other necessary permission are also required.
If you believe a minor's voice was uploaded without authorization, contact us immediately. We may first disable the related voice and handle deletion after verification.
If you have questions about this policy or data handling, contact support@sharcotech.org.
For a voice-data request, provide your account identifier, voice name, and the action requested. Unless it is necessary for verification, do not resend the disputed voice sample by email.
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on the website or in the app, and material changes may be highlighted when appropriate.
